#ImprovedPost. This unique pièce Cartier decagonal watch was made in 1968 in London. It’s highly likely, that it’s the only watch from Maison to ever feature a swirl dial design with a day and night indication. The white and gray enameled sections of the dial are divided for diurnal and nocturnal hours to create quite a mesmerizing spiral effect, in contrast with the yellow gold case.
It first appeared at Sotheby’s in June of 2013 along with its own certificate of authenticity from Cartier which confirms the location of manufacture, as well as the year ( See slide 2 ). At the time, it was estimated to be worth at best, USD 50,000. The watch appeared around a year later at another auction house and back in March, on Instagram ( Check out @Justin.Gruenberg ).
