ทุกคนคงจะทราบกันดีว่าภาษาอังกฤษสำเนียง British นั้นเร็ว และฟังยาก แต่เหตุผลที่บางครั้งเราฟังไม่เข้าใจ ไม่ใช่เพียงเพราะ เราไม่ฟังไม่ทัน หรือไม่คุ้นเคยกับสำเนียงของเขาเท่านั้น แต่รวมไปถึงการที่เขาใช้คำศัพท์ หรือวลีที่เราไม่คุ้นเคยอยู่ด้วยค่ะ

ก่อนหน้าที่เราจะเริ่มเรียนคำสแลงกัน ผู้เขียนขออธิบายความหมายของคำว่าสแลงกันก่อนนะคะ
สแลง หมายถึง ถ้อยคำหรือสำนวนที่ใช้เข้าใจกันเฉพาะกลุ่มหรือชั่วระยะเวลาหนึ่ง ไม่ใช่ภาษาที่ยอมรับกันว่าถูกต้องตามหลักภาษา (sanook dictionary)
ดังนั้นเราจึงสามารถนำไปใช้ได้กับการสนทนาที่ไม่เป็นทางการเพียงเท่านั้นค่ะ
