Dear Karen Friends,
Whether you live in Burma (Myanmar), in Thailand, in India or in one of these Asian, American or European countries where many of you found refuge over the past decades,
Regardless of your own community (Sgaw, Pwo, Pa-O, Kayah, Padaung, Paku, Gheba or any other one),
Whether you are Christian (Catholic, Anglican, Baptist, Seventh-Day Adventist, Methodist, Pentecostal), Buddhist or Animist,
Whichever language you use daily (Karen, Burmese, Thai, English or another one),
At the beginning of this New Year, be assured of my best wishes for each one of you, your relatives, friends and all those you love. And please accept also my warm wishes for your Great Karen Nation !

In order to illustrate my wishes, here are four old and very rare Thai postcards showing young Karens of Siam in traditional costume. The photos were taken around 1912 by Robert Lenz, a German photographer settled in Bangkok since the 1890s.
