6S is a system to promote and sustain for workplace to increase productivity and safety. 5S principle of Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain, the 6S method adds the concept of Safety. 6S not only improve for workplace organization to promote efficient working environments but also establishes a sustainable of safety.
Remove and separate through all of items unnecessary in the location, often called “RED TAGGING” by following questions -> Who need to used? / How often will be used? Then can provide something to who need it.
Organizing the necessary item by grouping base on function, set up location and labelling reduce the waste time the worker easily reaches them when needed.
Cleaning the workplace but not only cleaning the important point is having to inspection for the machine or equipment problems to solve problems continuously.
Standardize to reduce the time and eliminate mistakes by sort, order, clean, optimize the tools, clear rule and responsibilities, identification of storage locations the workplace, make procedure and training standard to everybody.
The long term to develop processes 4S by self-discipline of the workers and must be continuously applied until it becomes habitual. Sustain/Self-discipline need to regular follow up by assessment.
