Muscle of the Back
Intermediate layer
The intermediate back muscles are covered superficially by the superficial back muscles.
The intermediate group includes
Serratus posterior superior
Serratus posterior inferior
💤1.Serratus posterior superior(SPS)

💤Origin : ส่วนล่างของ ligamentum nuchae ที่คอ และ spinous process of C7-T3
💤Insertion : The upper borders of the 2nd-5th ribs
💤Action : -Elevates ribs 2-5 during active or forceful inspiration.
-Stabilise the ribs during passive respiration.
💤Nerve supply : Intercostal nerve of ribs 2-5 supply sensorimotor innervation to the SPS.
💤Artery : Intercostal arteries
Serratus posterior superior
💤2.Serratus posterior inferior(SPI)
ทอดตัวอยู่ที่ช่วงต่อระหว่างทรวงอกแนว midaxillary line และกลางหลังระดับเอว
💤Origin : Spinous process of T11-L2 vertebrae
💤Insertion : The inferior borders of the 9th -12th ribs
💤Action : Depress the lower ribs 9-12 during active inspiration.
Stabilise the thorax during passive respiration.
💤Nerve : Intercostal nerve T9-T12
💤Artery : Intercostal arteries
Myofascial pain syndrome of Serratus posterior inferior
จะพบได้ไม่บ่อยนัก โดยปวดบริเวณหลังส่วนกลางบริเวณชายโครง ต้องแยกกับปัญหาของไต เช่นภาวะกรวยไตอักเสบ และปัญหาจากรากประสาทไขสันหลัง เช่นT10-L2 ซึ่งจะพบว่ามีการจำกัดการเคลื่อนไหวของกระดูกสันหลังช่วงกลางลำตัวได้เล็กน้อย อาการปวดจะชีดเจนเมื่อผู้ป่วยหมุนลำตัวไปด้านข้าง
