Bi and Collins (2021)
This study aimed to examine the indirect effect of entrepreneurial behavior on implicit mindset, proactive behavior, and ESE among university students in New Zealand.
A questionnaire survey was sent to university students in a large public university in New Zealand. The total sample of 154. SEM was used to test hypotheses. This study employed the ESE scale of McGee et al. (2009).
The overall results show that entrepreneurial behavior has an indirect relationship between implicit mindset (fixed mindset), proactive behavior, and ESE. Fixed mindset has a negative relationship with entrepreneurial behavior. This study suggests that students who have entrepreneurial behavior will have a perception of ESE. But if they have a fixed mindset, they won’t have entrepreneurial behavior and no ESE. The implication is that teaching and training students to have a growth mindset instead of a fixed mindset will help them have entrepreneurial behavior and then ESE.
What I like about this study is that it’s simple and easy to understand. The conceptual framework is logical. However, I think they should not claim the mediating role of entrepreneurial behavior but the indirect effect. This study would be better if the sample size is bigger and the mediating effect is tested more correctly.
