When Robert Pope said he wanted to run through an entire country in one day, people didn’t think he meant it literally.
The 44-year-old Brit became the first man to run across Ireland in a single day, finishing the 215-kilometer ultramarathon from Galway to Dublin in 23 hours and 39 minutes. The run was preceded and followed by pints of Guinness, of course, although it’s a good job the drinks weren’t included in his time, since that stuff takes ages to pour.
