On 8th September 1954, The United States, France, The United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, The Philippines, and Pakistan signed Manila Pact, which established Southeast Asia Treaty Organisation (SEATO) with the purpose of enhancing cooperation between state parties on regional security, and also contain the influence of communism in the region.
However, the operation of SEA is not successful as much, as France also suspended financial support to the organisation. SEATO's role is relatively declining due to détente policy and the improvement of Sino-American relations. Finally, SEATO ended all of its operations in June 1977.
