Approximately 235,000 Canadians are homeless. Unfortunately, this number has been rising continuously over the years. With root causes such as poverty, domestic violence, or lack of employment, homelessness in Canada is becoming a booming epidemic.

The Jarring Reality
Chronic homelessness accounts for over 60% of the homeless population.
A devastating 13% of homeless people in Canada are children and unaccompanied youth.
In 2020, homeless drug overdose deaths doubled from 2.7 to 4.7 deaths per day.
In Nanaimo, nearly 50% of homeless youth were on the streets within five years of leaving foster care.
Over 85% of homeless people fall into the high symptom/high distress category regarding their mental health.
