ผักตบชวา เป็นพืชโตเร็ว ที่ถูกนำมาจากเกาะชวา ด้วยความอยากชื่นชม เพียงความงาม จนถูกเรียกว่า สวะ คำที่ชาวบ้านใช้เรียกรวมกลุ่มพืช ที่ขึ้นลอยตามผิวน้ำ ทำความเดือดร้อนให้ชีวิต
แต่ในอีกมุมหนึ่ง ผักตบชวา มีประโยชน์ และเป็นนักบำบัดที่กล้าหาญ ด้วยการเพิ่มออกซิเจน และดูดซับสารพิษ ให้กับผืนน้ำที่กำลังจะตาย
