Kimhan Breed: The first high temperature resistant rice varieties of Thailand
Kasetsart University developed the Hom Nin rice strain, the resistant to high temperature specie, by the research team of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chanet Malampong, Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture at Kamphaeng Saen.
The team received a grant from the Office of Agricultural Research Development (Public Organization) or ARDA in inventing, planning and developing until able to get the first ‘Kimhan’ rice variety in Thailand. The purpose of this research is to help farmers to earn more income. Because the ‘Kimhan breed’ is a breed that is suitable for planting in the area of Thailand. And It is suitable for cultivation in summer.
In addition, ‘Kimhant’ received a Certificate of Registered Plant Variety according to the Plant Variety Act, B.E. 2518 (1975) from the Department of Agriculture, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Thailand.
