AI Technology Can Be a Solution to Ease Healthcare
The Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) assesses that artificial intelligence (AI) technology can be a solution to answer health problems in Indonesia. One of them is to facilitate public access to health services.
"The existence of AI can make early detection of health conditions possible so that it can reduce disability or advanced stages," said the Head of the Communication Bureau of the Indonesian Ministry of Health, dr. Siti Nadia Tarmizi in her official statement, launching from Merdeka.com.
Nadia also said that there have been several implementations of AI for health services in Indonesia, such as the PeduliLindungi application and the Biomedical & Genome Science Initiative (BGSI) to support the health industry to advance.
According to Nadia, the two digital platforms are very helpful for people to be able to get health services easily. This is especially true for people who are in areas with limited health facilities.
"The existence of the PeduliLindungi and BGSI platforms, as well as facilities and infrastructure allows the use of AI which will certainly make it very easy. Especially in areas where human resources and equipment are limited," explained Nadia.
AI Technology Can Be A Solution To Facilitate Access To Healthcare In addition, Nadia also revealed that AI makes it easier for health facilities to see patients' medical records. AI is very helpful to make it easier to connect data in various inspection facilities and health services without the need for physical files. Health information can also be shared easily between health facilities.
Meanwhile, President Commissioner of PT Siloam International Hospitals Tbk (SILO) John Riady revealed that the use of AI for the national health industry is a necessity. Currently, efforts to implement AI to play a more important role in the healthcare industry are already very many.
John also revealed that world-class leaders and business people have highlighted the importance of collecting and processing public health data. Databases and the use of digital technology are increasingly important to solve problems in the world of healthcare.
So to support the resolution of health access problems in Indonesia, SILO also became a pioneer for digital health services led directly by hospitals. Through the MySiloam digital platform, patients can make doctor's appointments both online and offline easily.
"Preventive services are very important to us, not just healthy but must be wellness. So, everyone's treatment can be different, as well as prevention. In order to run such a health system, of course, databases are very important," said John.
Vice President of PT Siloam International Hospitals Tbk Caroline Riady also added that the use of information technology, especially AI, plays an important role in strategies and steps to anticipate the explosion of health problems in the community.
Caroline also revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic has provided many lessons and tests for global and national health systems. The pandemic has demonstrated the importance of health databases, from mapping chronic diseases to tracking and preventing transmission.
"The collection and processing of public health data is critical to the strengthening of the health system. In the end, AI technology is also useful for improving people's quality of life, this should be in line with the vision of the health world which should offer a proactive strategy," said Caroline.
Caroline also assessed that it is possible to build an open solid health database in Indonesia, where all parties must collaborate to build it. This is especially important for a proactive policy.
