A woman in France has reportedly been arrested for that most heinous of crimes — insulting the all-powerful Emmanuel Macron.
The woman, identified only as ‘Valerie’ by French media, is said to have referred to Macron as ‘trash’ in a social media post, and was subsequently arrested on Friday after three police officers appeared at her front door.
Valerie was also accused of writing ‘Macron ordure'’ (Macron trash) on a wall in front of which she posed for a photo.
Police read her Facebook post back to her, in which she had written ‘The trash will speak tomorrow at 1pm, for the people who are nothing, it is always on TV that we find trash,’ before arresting her under the highly controversial ‘contempt of a public official’ law, a tool reportedly used by authorities to clamp down on protests in France, and which has been criticized by numerous bodies, including Amnesty International. - RT News
