Hey there! I want to share my personal journey growing up with ADHD .

Life has been quite an adventure for me, filled with challenges and discoveries. Let's drive in!
As a child in the 1980s, I started off like any other kid. I could walk, talk, and run just fine. However, when it came to going to school, I had a tough time. I didn't want to go and would cry every morning. I even jumped off the motorcycle when my dad tried to take me to school. Eventually, my mom decided to keep me at home. I was a restless and mischievous kid, and my mom would sometimes hit me.
When I finally started school at around 3 years old, my teachers noticed that I was smart but had difficulty staying organized and would often wander around. My handwriting was messy, and I talked a lot.
Despite these challenges, I managed to get good grades, but I didn't enjoy playing with other kids. Waiting was hard for me, and I preferred to play alone or explore the basement. Occasionally, I'd join others for sports, but I never wanted to stop playing. Although I took my studies seriously, I struggled to make close friends.
As a teenager, I was full of energy and loved racing and playing intense sports. Close friendships were rare for me, as I found it difficult to connect with others on a deeper level. I often got frustrated with friends who had unpredictable moods, and it led to conflicts. I enjoyed the nightlife and couldn't wait for exciting experiences. If someone scolded me for no reason, I would argue back. To calm myself down, I would engage in vigorous physical activities.
Throughout my youth, I had no idea that I had ADHD. It wasn't until later in life that I learned about it. ADHD is a condition that affects how the brain works, making it harder to concentrate, stay organized, and control impulses. Knowing this has helped me understand myself better and embrace my unique traits.
Today, I embrace my ADHD as a part of who I am. It doesn't define me, but it has shaped my experiences and perspectives. I've realized that my ADHD brings strengths like creativity, resilience, and a unique way of thinking. It's about finding strategies that work for me and seeking support when needed.
My journey growing up with ADHD has been filled with challenges, but it has also made me resilient and resourceful. If you're on a similar path, remember that you're not alone. Embrace your uniqueness, seek understanding and support, and focus on your strengths. Together, we can navigate the world and make a positive impact.
