There is a way to eat great Venetian food that’s thrilling, filling, and authentic. Let’s start with the Venetian Happy Hour - cicchetti in the bácaro.
Cicchetti is pronounced chi-Ket-tee is Venetian tapas, like the tapas in Spain, or dim sum in China. Bácaro plural is bácari is the tiny taverns or wine bars (even some no place to sit inside, must stand or sit outside), someone calls it Venetian pub.

Cicchetti are inexpensive, surely budget travelers can afford, on average a couple of euros, a bit more for more substantial seafood or meat. It’s a look-and-point-food, no special mastery of Italian required and no need to wait to be seated to enjoy it, Venetians eat cicchetti with their fingers. My favorite is the Venetian specialty called baccalá Mantecato, a small crostini toast slathered with creamed baccalá.
After that wash them down with Ombra, means a glass of wine or an Aperol Spritz (popular Italian cocktail), but prosecco or beer will do. A perfect foodie experience in Venice.
