Linguistics VS Applied linguistics

🗣️Linguistics studies language structure, while applied linguistics applies linguistic knowledge to practical issues, like language teaching or translation. Think of linguistics as understanding language itself, and applied linguistics as using that understanding to address real-world language-related challenges.
✍️In English Language Teaching (ELT) classes, understanding language structure (linguistics) can be applied by having students analyze sentence structures, identify parts of speech, and comprehend grammar rules. This knowledge is then practically used (applied linguistics) when students apply correct grammar in writing or engage in meaningful conversations.
🌏In real-life situations, linguistics involves studying language structures and patterns. Applied linguistics, in practical terms, means using this knowledge to address language-related challenges. For instance, understanding syntax (linguistics) helps someone formulate clear and grammatically correct sentences when writing a professional email (applied linguistics).
