How did the art market in China achieve such prominent growth in the global art world? What are the collecting trends of Chinese collectors? What are the latest developments in Chinese contemporary art? How will the evolution of China’s art market impact the international art world?
Author Kejia Wu will discuss her book “A Modern History of China’s Art Market” which provides the first account of the drastic transformation of China’s art market. The talk will examine how the environment for China’s arts and cultural development changed from the end of the Cultural Revolution to today and its future trajectory.
The discussion will cover the stages of market transformation and introduce a group of Chinese contemporary artists who have been trying to explore creative breathing space in a complex political and cultural environment.
“A Book Talk: China’s Art Market - Past, Present and Future” will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2023, from 2.00 - 3.30 PM at the RCB Forum, 2nd floor, River City Bangkok.
