“Lawyer Anon” was given a 4-year prison sentence for defaming the royal family on Facebook. And he will be detained further based on the previous sentences.
Today (17 Jan 2027) a lawyer Anon Nampa, 40 years old, was summoned to appear in the criminal court hearing the black number case 2804/64, seeing that plaintiffs, a criminal prosecutor division 5, brought the defamation of royal family charge against him under Thai Criminal Procedure Code Section 112 and Computer Act B.E.2550 Section 14.
The prosecutor said that lawyer Anon posted a defamation and breeding
resentment against the royal family on the 1st Jan, 2022, on his Facebook account “Anon Nampa”, having 227,786 followers. So, his conduct was illegal.
Today, the court summoned the lawyer Anon from Bangkok Remand Prison to hear the verdict.
The court had considered both testimonies and presented evidence from both sides. The 3 public posts from the defendant’s Facebook account misled audiences’ comprehension. The insults, defamations, and threats to the royal family were considered serious offences.
