The Ping River, or Mae Ping, or Mae Raming, is an important river in Thailand.
The Ping River has its source at Doi Chiang Dao in Chiang Dao District, Chiang Mai Province. In the upper part of the Ping River is the Mae Ping National Park, covering an area of 627,346 rai (1,003.75 sq. km).
The value of the Ping River wetlands is that they are a water source, a storage area for rainwater and runoff, a source of natural resources and products that humans can harvest and use, and are important for local transportation, as well as a source of plant and animal species that are important for ecology and nature conservation, especially as a source of important producers in the food chain.
